When the condor sweeps the sky
I'll be on my way to Santa Fe
And the cobblestones cringe,
I braid my beard and swagger,
I’m feeling like a connoisseur

I want to paint my face in red & green
And lift into the night
She’s a rocket, and I’m her crazy dream

There’s a fire in my heart and some breath in my lungs,
I’m a newfangled troubadour
So, I raise my hand and sway
To the pulse of the prairie floor
And she tumbles through the universe on automatic flames
She’s guaranteed to disengage

I want to paint my face in red & green
Watch her lift into the night
In her tuned-up, daredevil flying machine
Soar above the flood
She’s a rocket, and I’m her galaxy

In the Catalina Foothills where the mountains meet the rain
A desert rose and a lucky star
After hours, when the constellations bleed across the blue
She’s roaring over Tanglewood
And her helmet shatters like a mirror in a crawlspace
She’s invisible for the afternoon

I want to paint her face in red & green
Watch her lift in through the night

When you take a walk in the countryside heather
Listen for my voice in the rain
I love you more than you’ll ever know
You make me smile with your pleasantries
